MOTs and vehicle service

During a car MOT test, several checks are conducted to assess the vehicle’s roadworthiness and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Once we have completed your MOT you will receive a successful MOT certificate indicating that the vehicle met the required test standards.

Vehicle Identification
The examiner verifies the vehicle’s identification details, including the registration number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and number plates.

Lights & Signals
The operation and condition of all lights, indicators, brake lights, headlights, fog lights, and reflectors are checked for proper functioning and alignment.

Steering & Suspension
The steering system is inspected for wear, tightness, and proper operation. The suspension components are checked for any damage or excessive wear.

Brakes
The braking system is thoroughly examined, including the condition of brake pads, discs, drums, hoses, and pipes. Brake efficiency and balance are also tested.

Tyres and Wheels
Tyres are inspected for tread depth, condition, and overall safety. The wheels are checked for alignment, damage, and correct fitting.

Seatbelts & Restraint Systems
The seatbelts are inspected for proper operation, condition, and security. The general condition of the seats and their anchorage points is also assessed.

Exhaust Emissions
The exhaust system is checked for leaks, secure fittings, and proper emission control. Emission levels are measured to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Windscreen & Wipers
The condition of the windscreen, including any chips or cracks that affect the driver’s view, is examined. The wiper blades and washers are checked for functionality.

Fuel System
The fuel system, including fuel lines, tank, and cap, is inspected for leaks, security, and proper operation.

Vehicle Structure
The overall condition and structural integrity of the vehicle, including the bodywork, doors, and chassis, are assessed.

Air Bag System
The airbag system is checked to ensure that it is in full working order.

Antilocking Brake System
The antilocking brake system and engine management systems are checked to ensure that they are free from warning lights.
